Bollywood beauties carry off the bright colour with great style

Labels: ,

Bollywood has invariably celebrated this festival with great enthusiasm. B-town has always been fascinated by dandiya and garba. Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukerji, virtually all of them have grooved to the fast paced Navratri tunes. The nine days of the festival is celebrated with a different colour, each day. And since, orange is the colour of the day, we take you through actors who have donned this shade with absolute élan.

Bollywood has always celebrated Navratri with great fanfare and enthusiasm – from Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai’s garba moves in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam to Farhan Akhtar and his band crooning a cheesy dandiya number in Rock On. This festival gives everyone a chance to come out of their mundane routines and get groovy. The nine days of the festival are celebrated with different colours, one for each day. Since B-town has so many awesome Navratri moments to cherish, today we look at actor’s who have donned the festive hues. And, as always, all of them come out looking amazingly sexy!

Katrina visits Income Tax office

Labels: ,

She has closed-door meeting with officers for almost an hour

It seems that four months after the raid on her house, Katrina Kaif’s tax woes have not ended yet. The pretty actor visited the Income Tax office in Ballard Pier, Mumbai today to speak to senior officials. Dressed in a reddish-pink T-shirt and blue jeans, the actress and her personal assistant arrived in style in her Audi Q7 and were in talks with the officers for almost an hour. You may recall that IT officials had raided Katrina’s house and office (and Priyanka Chopra’s home and office, too) in the wee hours of January 24 for suspected tax evasion. The raid came as a shock to the industrywallahs and her fans. But even after that, her fan base has not dipped. Almost all activity in the building stopped as everyone around tried to catch a glimpse of the beautiful lady. Katrina seemed poised and oblivious to the stares as she went about her meeting professionally and left the building. We are just glad she didn’t call the media and cause a ruckus over there. Good going, Kat!

Deepika: Booked and fit!

She joins the bandwagon of actors promoting fitness books or DVDs

Star value works for everything, from ads to box office collections. Now publishers seem to be jumping on to the celebrity bandwagon, getting Bollywood stars to endorse all sorts of books, whether they had a part in the actual writing process or no. And staying in shape seems to be the route most of them take – at least, the biggest of the B-town biggies do. Kareena did her bit with Rujuta Diwekar’s fitness book, Don’t Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight, talking about how she moved from pretty to smoking hot, with a Size Zero body gained by not starving, but by eating sensibly and working out, or so she said. Shahrukh Khan wrote the foreward to Anupama Chopra’s new book, First Day First Show, saying that ‘It is a portrait of the industry with all its contradictions and instability’. And now Deepika Padukone promotes Namita Jain’s book, Figure it Out: The Ultimate Guide to Teen Fitness, saying that ‘For a ‘wow’ body that you will love, follow the essential fitness tips in this book.’ And if that ‘wow’ is anything like Deepika’s own figure, with its endless legs and flatter-than-flat middle, we can just see the crowds clamouring for copies of this one!

Asin No ‘best friends’ in Bollywood

Labels: ,

After a two-year break post London Dreams, Asin is back on the silver screen in Ready. She speaks about her chemistry with Salman Khan, her bikini act in Housefull 2 and her plans for Bollywood

When the clock strikes 12, Asin, looking pretty in a strawberry-pink knee-length dress, arrives for the interview. Unlike her temperamental co-star, the southern actor is punctual. The first time I met her was during the promotions of her first Hindi film, Ghajini, back in 2008; this is the second time. Her contemporaries – like Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone – have marched way ahead of her, whereas Ready is only her third release in four years.
“Somewhere I thought that I needed to work with the teams that I would enjoy working with or projects that would be exciting to be part of,” Asin justifies, “I am not very insecure as an actress or as a person. I did not feel the need to sign a lot of films because I had one hit film. Somewhere I think my priorities are also very different. People have their priorities; some want to be in the public conscience constantly either for financial considerations or for fame. I wanted to enjoy the kind of work I was doing, and I thought Ready was the apt film to come out with after London Dreams.”
Once again Asin plays Salman Khan’s love interest in the film. Their onscreen chemistry and friendly vibes off the sets have set many tongues wagging about their personal relationship. The young actor laughingly denies any uncomfortable experience while shooting with the star. “I think everybody kind of gets used to it. You would also know that there is no truth to it. It started during London Dreams, an outdated PR thingy. Obviously it is nice to write about it when there is nothing else. I am single and not in a relationship, perhaps that’s why I think these rumours kind of get accentuated.”
But you can’t miss their comfort level in real and reel life. Asin explains, “I think that our interaction in London Dreams helped develop a comfortable relationship in Ready. He’s always very supportive and pretty chilled out. He’s quite comfortable with me because somewhere I get his straight-faced sense of humour, and I think that’s why we gel pretty well.”
Apart from that Asin points out what she likes about her Ready co-star: “Salman is somebody who is very pure at heart. If he is angry, then he is angry. If he is upset with somebody – he is direct with the fact that he is angry. And if he is happy and comfortable, then so be it. I don’t see him putting on a face for different groups of people. And that’s what I like about him.”
London Dreams, their last film together, did not do well at the box-office. Does that bother her? She says, “You really can’t predict any of the films’ success or failures. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this one works. It is a very commercial format that Aneesji is quite a master at, and so is Salman. So I think that team should be a minimum guarantee at least. I am very positive about the film.”
In Ready, Asin plays Salman’s love interest but, like in most of his films, there is little scope for the female lead. The model-turned-actor doesn’t mind it. “I think that’s not in the hand of the lead actress. I think that would be in the hands of the scriptwriter or the director. You just do the part that is given to you to the best of your abilities and that’s all. That’s where your work ends.” As we all know, working opposite a star is a big deal in Bollywood as it gets more attention, and she is savvy enough to accept that fact.
Recently rumour buzzed that she turned down a film since it did not have a star lead. A slightly shocked Asin says, “I’ve never heard this story. Of my many considerations while signing a film, my co-star comes at the end of the list.” One thing is certain – she prefers commercial films. “I have no such restrictions that I will only work in mainstream commercial films, but the ideal situation for me at this point would be to hopefully get a role in commercial mainstream format cinema that has some scope for performance. I don’t want to concentrate only on niche cinema, because you get better roles there, nor do I want to concentrate on commercial films where you don’t have much to do. The ideal thing would be a mix of both. In the end, you go by what is offered to you and with the current trend that is in the industry.”
During the release of Ghajini, Asin shifted base to Mumbai. Does that mean she will no longer do regional cinema? “It depends on the kind of movies that come my way. I have a body of work down south and if a project comes, I need to find it more exciting than the projects I have done. That would probably excite me to take a project in the south,” says the siren.
Has she made close friends in B-town? “I wouldn’t call anybody my closest friend in Bollywood, because if you have to be the closest friend, that requires a lot of time from both parties to put into that friendship. I don’t think anybody in Bollywood has it,” she explains, “There are a lot of people who are friends, of course, but ‘best friend’ or ‘closest friend’ or ‘4 am friend’ – I don’t think I can define anybody like that. The people I have worked with are quite senior to me and I have a lot of admiration and respect for them. Of course they are friendly with me and I know I can approach them for anything that I want to, but I wouldn’t tag anyone as a ‘closest friend’ or anything like that.”
Immediately after the release of Ready the pretty actor heads to London for a one-and-a-half month schedule for Sajid Khan’s Housefull 2. Apparently she will be hopping on the bikini bandwagon for this one. “Very interesting – I saw reports of that on the Internet as well! Let the speculation go on,” Asin keeps mum. When told that the film’s producer Sajid Nadiadwala had revealed that she would be seen in a bolder avatar, she laughs, “Oh well, then let us wait for the movie. I quite like all these speculations – almost like I got married without me knowing!”
That’s the way the cookie crumbles in Bollywood. Welcome Asin, once again!

Kashmera Shah: I don’t have silicon breasts like others

Labels:

Kashmera Shah is staying true to her bold and outrageous image. After coming out with a bare-all calender recently, the actor fights off accusations about going under the surgeon’s knife and photoshopping parts of her body to create the hot look for her calendar

There have been murmurs about how the quirky Kashmera Shah has gone under the brush to get her hot look in the recent calendar, and the actor is definitely not amused by all this talk. “Only the backgrounds have been photoshopped. And in some places the colour of my hair. Neither did we add any abs nor did we remove any flab to make me look thinner than I am. I have worked out for months and lost a lot of weight to prepare for the photoshoot. So no one can take the credit away from me,” says Kashmera. The sexy actress feels that the top female stars need to push the envelope when it comes to doing shoots. “When I watch the songs and photoshoots done by top stars, I feel they are very talented and that they can do so much better! They don’t really push the envolope. I wanted to do a bold, edgy and outrageous calendar as that is who I am! I have done over 40 films. I have survived in the industry for 10 years not because of my controversies! I am an actor first and then an item girl or whatever else. At least, I don’t have silicon breasts like others. Mine are natural!” she says, in her inimitable bold way. Is a certain Rakhi Sawant listening?

I’m not pregnant

shilpa pregnant 176x300BollywoodWorld.com, Fed up of congratulatory messages, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has finally spoken out about her rumoured pregnancy saying the news is not true.
“Sick and tired of all the congratulatory msgs and calls, so for the last time ‘I AM NOT PREGNANT’. All this is so annoying…grrrrrrrrr (sic),” Shilpa posted on micro-blogging site Twitter Thursday.
Last week, the grapevine was abuzz that Shilpa, and her businessman husband, Raj Kundra, are expecting their first child together. They tied the knot in November 2009.
Initially, Shilpa chose to deny the news in a subtle manner.
She tweeted: “To all my followers ‘If, how and when I wish to make any personal announcement, is entirely MY (not the press’) prerogative! As of now there’s none to make.
“I do know I am in the public domain, and everyone is curious, but these are sensitive issues, hence would appreciate the press respects my privacy. Thanks.”
The actress is busy cheering for her Indian Premier League (IPL) team Rajasthan Royals these days.

Working with Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan is like winning trophies

Labels:

Shahrukh Khan And Aamir KhanWorking with Bollywood stars is like winning a trophy, says newcomer Ali Fazal and adds that a role with the likes of Aamir Khan or Shah Rukh Khan is what newcomers crave for.
And he was lucky to get the opportunity – after playing a small role of Joy Lobo in Aamir Khan starrer “3 Idiots”, he is doing a pivotal role in SRK’s home production “Always Kabhi Kabhi”.
“To me, Aamir, Shar Rukh, Salman Khan are like trophies at the end of the race. We all are running to reach to them,” Ali, who doesn’t like comparing the two superstars, told IANS.
“It’s wrong to compare. I worked with them in different scenarios. Aamir Khan was in the film I was doing and Shah Rukh Khan is the producer of my film. As a producer, he played a brilliant role. He’s a thorough gentleman,” said the actor who shakes a leg with SRK in a song in “Always Kabhi Kabhi”.
“The little time we shot with him, we found him very professional. He made us feel like buddies. It takes three days to finish one song, he just took one day. He learnt the dance steps in one hour and he was ready,” he added.
“Always Kabhi Kabhi” happened before “3 Idiots” released, says Ali.
“I signed this movie before ‘3 Idiots’ was released. When I started working in this movie ‘3 Idiots’ was in it post-production,” said the actor, who is an engineering student and says playing a school boy was tough.
“For me, playing an older character is easier than playing a younger one. It’s very hard because there is a very thin line between the age group of 18, 20 or 23-year-old.
“You have seen Joy Lobo and if you see Sam, the character I play here, he is a very fun loving boy. But again he is a schoolboy and in tense moments it’s a very different how an 18-year-old would react or cry. You will see the difference from what I did in ‘3 Idiots’. It was definitely tough.”
Apart from Ali, “Always Kabhi Kabhi” will launch two new faces – Zoa Morani and Satyajeet Dubey. This is television host and radio jockey Roshan Abbas’s directorial debut. “Love Aaj Kal” fame Giselle Monteiro also stars in it.
Set in a school, “Always Kabhi Kabhi” is about four youngsters trying to compete with pressure of growing up and many firsts that everyone experiences in high school.
Playing a lead role was much of a responsibility for Ali who discovered his acting talent during school days. He was a basketball player but after an accident, he shifted to theatre.
“When I started doing plays, I found a new side of me. Then I started exploring more about it. Every time I would do it, something new would come out. I did this role,” said the Doon School alumnus.
Ali feels that for any film, script is important. “Half of the job is done when you have a good story. Follow your punctuation marks and half of your acting is done.”

Hrithik Roshan perfects himself for TV role

Labels:

Hrithik Roshan just dance show1 199x277Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan, who is set to judge dance reality show “Just Dance”, is busy preparing himself by watching audition tapes over and over again.
The actor, who will make his debut on the small screen with the show, locked himself in his house for three days to watch the audition tapes featuring about 50 contestants. Hrithik wanted to be fair in letting only the deserving candidates move ahead in the show, said a source close to him.
Hrithik is taking a lot of care for the show, and being the perfectionist that he is, reached the sets much earlier than the scheduled time for the technical rehearsals Saturday.
Choreographers Farah Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant will also judge the show, which will go on air on Star Plus.

Superhero flick ‘Ra.One’ promos hit the air sans Kareena Kapoor

Labels:

Mumbai: It’s a man’s world for sure. And when it comes to Bollywood, men do rule the silver screen. No matter how big a star an actress is, she does taste the bitterness of being the fairer sex. Despite being a huge brand in herself, Kareena Kapoor has been seconded in the promotional trailors of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer superhero flick ‘Ra.One’.

Moreover, last year blockbuster film ‘Robot’ starring southern superstar Rajinikanth did not have enough space both in the promos and in the film for someone as big as Aishwarya Rai, who has an international appeal.

"There is not much difference between ‘Ra.One’ and ‘Robot’, when it comes to the treatment meted out to the female protagonist. Like everyone is aware, the role of Aishwariya Rai in ‘Robot’ was largely inconsequential barring her song and dance sequences and those curve showing moves. It seems Kareena, despite being the female protagonist in the film does not have much to do in the film either. Now, it only goes on to show that Bollywood is still a man dominated territory," the source added.

Nonetheless, it’s the same industry that has produced masterpieces like ‘Mother India’, ‘Bandini’ and even newly released films like ‘Black’ and ‘No One Killed Jessica’. But will Bollywood ever give fair and equal importance to women in the industry? Only time will tell.

Ajay Devgn as Krrish 2 baddie?

Labels:

Actor has been offered the role. The actor is in talks with the director Rakesh Roshan

THE BIG QUESTION: Will Ajay Devgn end up playing the villain in Rakesh Roshan's Krrish 2?
THE HISTORY: Rakesh Roshan and Ajay have been wanting to work together for some time now. The director had approached Ajay during Karan Arjun but that didn't work out.

THE ROLE: An insider reveals that the role offered to Devgn is "an ultra cool, stylish persona with gray shades intelligent, edgy, witty, smart and evil something along the lines of the Joker's character in Batman series" and is "in complete contrast to anything he has done before."

WILL HE? WON'T HE? Roshan Jr (Hrithik) is also keen to have Ajay on board the superhero sequel. "AJ is giving it serious thought," says our source.

Apparently Ajay is quite keen to work with Rakesh and feels he is one of the best commercial directors today.
"It's a fabulous role and in films like this one and the Dhoom series, the grey roles get more buzz and interest than the hero's role. A few details are being worked out."
THE TWIST: Rakesh Roshan met Salman Khan in Bangkok last month when the actor was shooting for Ready. That said, the casting for the negative role in Krrish 2 might still be up in the air.

Bollywood Stars Without Make-Up

Labels:

Bollywood actresses are known for their beauty and style. They are glorified on screens as demi-goddesses who are blessed with ethereal beauty. But its now time for some reality check as the actresses don't really look like the perfect dreamgirls once they are stripped off their make-up. Lets take a look at how different actresses look without their usual dose of make-up.
Sonam

Bollywood's number one fashionista isn't very attractive to look at once her make-up comes off. In this pic, Sonam far from the glam diva that she always is.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif doesn't look much different without make-up. She is one naturally blessed woman in terms of beauty and, hence, can easily survive without make-up. She looks beautiful in her most basic and natural avatar.

Rani Mukherjee

Yes! The person you see in the pic is indeed Rani Mukherjee. And, she sure does look horrendous without her make-up on. Our advise to her would be not to step out of the house without any make-up or she might end up losing the few films that she's got in hand.

Deepika Padukone

Sans make-up, Deepika looks like any other face in the crowd. It is after a good dose of grooming that Deepika manages to look like the stunner that she always appears to be.

Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor also looks amazingly beautiful even without any trace of make-up. Guess its owing to her genes and a healthy lifestyle that always ensures that she looks radiant and glowing.

Priyanka Chopra

The glamorous Piggy Chops looks like as bad without make-up as as she looks good with it. She seems like a totally different person from the gorgeous star that we all know

Kajol

Kajol has always shocked us with her sense of style in the past and she does the same by coming forth without proper grooming. No matter what the occasion is, there can be no excuse for turning up looking like this in public.

Rakhi Sawant

Not that we consider Rakhi a Bollywood star, but the difference in her look with and without make-up is so startling that we couldn't resist including her in the list. On the transformation in her appearance, we have only one thing to say: Miracles do happen!

Kangana Ranaut – Still has no time for love at 24th Years Ago

Labels:

(1) If I am talking about Kangana Ranaut Bollywood Career, she could well be the youngest National Award winner in this industry, also the one with the maximum number of films under her belt for her age. She lacks one thing in her life and that is a steady companion.

On a high after the success of 'Tanu Weds Manu', she maintains that she isn't thinking too much about finding her own 'Manu' for the time being at the least.

As per Latest Kangana Ranaut Interviews, she said that, "I am enjoying being single at the moment, I am just going to turn 24. So there is time to find that special someone! Jaldi kya hai?"
“Ever since the start of my career, I have played mature women in films like Gangster. Even in Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, I didn’t play a teenager.”

Sonakshi Sinha - apprehensive about bold scenes with Kamal Haasan

Labels:

(1) comes with a lot of dos and don'ts before signing a project, has been roped in opposite Sonakshi Sinhaveteran actor Kamal Haasan in a South Indian filmfor a whopping amount of 2 crore.

She's getting paid a bomb and is getting to work on her terms and conditions. What more can one ask for?

As per Latest Sonakshi Sinha Interviews, she said that, “Why should that be a problem? Once you are on the sets in front of the camera, your age should not matter. I will be respectful but an equal on the sets with Kamal Haasan.”

"I never felt like a child while working with Salman Khan in Dabangg (2010) and now with Akshay in Joker. In real life, age makes no difference in a marriage. On screen too, your biological age is of no consequence. Salman and Akshay are a lot older than me so it's not as if I am suddenly going from teenybopper co-stars to a co-star of another generation.”

“Acting with him is difficult enough. Playing his wife will require me to have a lot more guts.”

(2) After signing Dyna soaps a couple of weeks ago, she will soon be seen in a campaign for Dabur’s bleach brand Fem. The agreement was recently signed by her and Dabur India CEO Sunil Duggal. The first campaign for Fem bleaches featuring Sinha will be launched shortly.

As per Latest Bollywood Interviews, she said that, “It gives me great pleasure to be associated with a large beauty brand with a stature of Fem and be the face for the brand, the most trusted bleach brand and a product that I myself use. According to me, Fem is a brand that celebrates women.”

With Jaya in front of cameras after K3G ... Been a while!!"

We are sure that audiences would be more than happy to see Big B and Jaya once again in the same frame.
